    Job summaryWe have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller who will be responsible for providing professional financial advice and expertise to the Deputy Director of Finance and the senior management of the Trust.

    The successful applicant will be a professionally qualified Accountant at Masters level with considerable proven financial management experience and direct technical accounting experience at Senior Finance manager level or above.

    Main duties of the jobThe Financial Controller will be responsible for providing professional financial advice and expertise to the Deputy Director of Finance and the senior management of the Trust.

    In addition, the role will be expected to advise colleagues on best practice and value for money within their own areas of responsibility and across Directorates.

    The post holder will be required to lead, in conjunction with other senior finance staff, on the effective application of multi-disciplinary working and develop cohesive key working relationships with other members of multidisciplinary teams within the Trust and across the wider local health economy.

    Qualifications

    EssentialEducated to degree level or equivalent.
    A professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA) with considerable proven financial management experience with substantial direct technical accounting experience at Senior Finance manager level or above

    Knowledge and Experience

    EssentialSignificant proven experience in a leadership/management roleExperience of delivering statutory accountsExperience of presenting complex financial information to non-finance managers.

    Experience of direct staff managementExtensive experience of the use of computerised accounting systems including nominal ledger packages and associated feeder systems - ideally with SBS ORACLE FinanceExpert knowledge of financial accounts, financial and accounting policies and legislationDesirablePrevious Financial Management experience within the NHSExperience of business case preparation, presentation and implementationDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
