- Arrange assessment of Occupational Therapy needs for services and to work collaboratively with children and families to meet the identified needs of individuals.
- Assessing and maintaining accurate records of needs and progress
- To negotiate the delivery of services with providers and other Agencies e.g. specialist adaptive equipment suppliers, home improvement agency and Housing
- Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive care and support for children and their families
- Providing advice, guidance, and support to schools, parents, and carers to promote inclusion and enable access to learning opportunities
- To participate in other activities which would benefit from the application of OT professional skills, e.g. working parties, special service developments, policy formulation, group work and community development work.
- Contributing to multiagency assessments, reviews, and planning processes
- Empowering children and young people to achieve their full potential and promote independence
- To ensure OT professional standards are met in accordance with HCPC and COT Code of Ethics
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration
- Experience working in a similar role, ideally within a local authority or education setting
- Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies, and standards relevant to children with disabilities and special educational needs
- Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders
- A positive and solution focused approach, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in a fast paced environment
