The University of Central Lancashire is one of the world's Best Global Universities leading the way in modern learning. Based in the heart of the North West, the University has campuses in Preston, Burnley, and West Cumbria.

The University is about to commence a new exciting phase of our ongoing Estate Strategy, and we are seeking to recruit a proactive and customer-focussed Estates Assistant to join our growing Estates Services team based at our Westlakes Campus, Cumbria.

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor (Burnley/Westlakes), you will be responsible for providing a responsive maintenance service for the University which will contribute to the care, quality, and upkeep of the developing University estate.

Your overarching aim will be to develop and maintain a safe, welcoming, inclusive and sustainable environment for all who study, work or live in UCLan, including students, staff, visitors and partners - contributing to the attraction, recruitment and retention of students and staff.

You will have ideally served a trade apprenticeship and be qualified to ONC and IOSH Managing Safely standard or have comparable experience.

You will be able to provide an initial attendance and assessment in response to reports/requests via the Estates Helpdesk - providing a first line fix, where appropriate and isolating and making safe if necessary.

You will assist with coordinating and supervising larger and more complex maintenance works via approved contractors.

You will also assist in managing small projects to improve the estate and the student experience, including developing specifications, budgets, and programmes of work.

You will hold GCSEs or equivalent, a recognised H&S qualification and be a qualified First Aider (or willingness to undertake training).

You will be very organised and flexible in your approach to work; having the ability to work both independently and as part of the wider Estates Services team, and able to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet the business need.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious trades person to broaden their scope of experience and skills in estates and facilities management.

If you meet all the essential criteria contained within the person specification and you are interested in joining us at this exciting stage of our developmental journey, then please do apply.
