Admin Assistant / Receptionist - Dermatology, Colchester Hospital

Part time, Permanent hours a week


Colchester General Hospital Dermatology team is actively recruiting for a highly motivated and dedicated Band 2 Admin Assistant / Receptionist to support the administrative staff in our busy unit.

You will actively participate as a full member of the team, assisting with the smooth running of the dermatology department and by supporting the reception and administrative functions in a timely, effective and efficient way alongside doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants.

Experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel are essential to this role.


Your working hours will be 33.75 hours per week over a 5 day working week, with hours between 8am and 5pm.

Summary of Role

  • To support the nonclinical and clinical team with administrative duties.
  • To ensure a high standard of administrative service is consistently delivered by undertaking all required tasks and activities on a daily basis.
  • To utilise the required technology / hospital systems including Big Hand / Evolve / Medway and any other new technology or system(s) that are introduced and support other team members to do so to deliver an efficient administrative service.
  • To reconcile clinic outcome forms in the agreed timeframe.
  • To phone patients for preop checks.

On a daily basis using the - Portal Medway System to:

  • Update patient information
  • Accurately record data on to the hospital Portal system
  • Book new and follow up outpatients appointments, managing the waiting lists
  • Reception to patients, family, visitors and colleagues.
