    Interim Finance Technician - Schools

    Based in West London, hybrid working

    Length: 6 months

    Inside IR35

    The interim Finance Technician will provide wide ranging Finance support on behalf of a Local Authority, to their schools and nurseries.

    Day to day duties include:

    • Providing a wide range of support to maintained mainstream and special schools, nurseries and children's centres including: termly uploads of schools' finance returns including income and expenditure returns, VAT submittal and bank reconciliation
    • Resolving queries and issues and questions with individual schools
    • Supporting schools in their closure of accounts
    • Managing the allocation of government grants to schools, notably the DSG, PPG and SSF Grant
    • Developing and maintaining a monthly payment schedule to ensure that grants are distributed to schools in a timely manner to avoid cash flow problems
    • Managing variations from the monthly schedule to facilitate agreed emergency cash advances, agreed loans and growth funding
    • Liaising with the council's Treasury team to ensure that government grants are received and correctly allocated
    • Reconciling expenditure to grant income on an on-going basis
    • Reporting on and managing the recovery of excess balances as directed by Schools Forum

    Experience required:

    • Local Government and Schools/Education experience is essential
    • Part Qualified candidates will be considered
