- Providing a wide range of support to maintained mainstream and special schools, nurseries and children's centres including: termly uploads of schools' finance returns including income and expenditure returns, VAT submittal and bank reconciliation
- Resolving queries and issues and questions with individual schools
- Supporting schools in their closure of accounts
- Managing the allocation of government grants to schools, notably the DSG, PPG and SSF Grant
- Developing and maintaining a monthly payment schedule to ensure that grants are distributed to schools in a timely manner to avoid cash flow problems
- Managing variations from the monthly schedule to facilitate agreed emergency cash advances, agreed loans and growth funding
- Liaising with the council's Treasury team to ensure that government grants are received and correctly allocated
- Reconciling expenditure to grant income on an on-going basis
- Reporting on and managing the recovery of excess balances as directed by Schools Forum
- Local Government and Schools/Education experience is essential

The interim Finance Technician will provide wide ranging Finance support on behalf of a Local Authority, to their schools and nurseries.
