Principal Research Bioinformatician (Genomics)


An exciting opportunity has arisen in the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory (WMRGL) in Birmingham for a Principal Research Bioinformatician to join our dynamic team of scientists & technologists.

Applications are invited from skilled, innovative and motivated Bioinformaticians with an interest in human genetics.


This post will provide bioinformatic leadership in the delivery of research projects within the WMRGL and those developed and undertaken in collaboration with the Central & South (CAS) Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (GMSA).


The WMRGL is the designated Genomic Laboratory Hub leading the CAS GLH Consortium providing state of the art genomic analysis to patients with rare disease/cancer.

Research and development is fundamental to the successful delivery of this high profile service.


The WMRGL is based at Birmingham Womens and Childrens NHS FT, working closely with Clinical Genetics, mainstream Clinicians, academia and pharmaceutical industries.
