Job Overview
We are currently recruiting for the role of an experienced Buyer to join our Team based within our Manufacturing facilities in Newry, this is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting and expanding Company that can offer excellent long-term development opportunities.
Main Duties:
- Negotiate the current material cost of each item currently purchased from existing and source new suppliers, while maintaining high quality products, whilst meeting project deadline dates.
- Assess material requirements from requisitions as requested and also provide where necessary alternative solutions for materials, in order to ensure stock is received on time and in full.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations on price, quality, and lead times, while maintaining current stock control.
- Work as close as possible to a Just in time situation without factory delays.
- Maintain the MRP System and input data from suppliers.
- Stock control and forecast material purchasing in line with the factory requirements
- Produce and process data and documents to ensure accurate reports and information.
- Manage stock control with a stock manager.
- Cooperate with ISO protocols.
- Manage KPIs.
- Be confident using ERP and configuration.
- Be able to forward plan resourcing of raw materials for continuous production needs.
Essential Criteria:
- 5 years' experience in Purchasing.
- Successful development and monitoring of administrative procedures and processes.
- Have excellent numerical skills, financial management and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills, and attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, have excellent communication and negotiating skills.
- Full driving licence and use of own car.
- Experience in purchasing outside of UK and Ireland.
- Be educated to degree level or demonstrate relevant experience within field.
- Be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Be proficient in the use of Excel and manage inhouse MRP system.
Desirable Criteria:
- Good numeracy including and the ability to measure quantities from drawings would be advantageous.
- Experience in building and plumbing materials.
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Procurement contract managing skills.
- Experience with procurement software packages.
