You will be working for an award winning multi-disciplinary consultancy with experience of working on projects worth up to £100M with clients including - Boeing, Rolls Royce, JLR, Red Bull F1, Aston Martin, McCarthy Stone, IVG


Role and Responsibilities:


  • You and your team will be carrying out small and medium scale ground investigations mostly for housing, education, retail and industrial sectors. Recommendations for foundation solution, earthworks, heave / shrinkage, specification of buried concrete, waste classification, remediation. Some pile design, soakaway design and slope stability analysis. Desk Studies, Ground Condition Assessments, Remediation Method Statements, Gas Monitoring Reports, Piling Risk Assessments, Earthworks Report, Waste Classification Reports, Subsidence Investigations and Verification Reports.
  • Assist with developing the Geo-Environmental discipline in the northwest and within Ridge and be part of the Engineering discipline group
  • Working closely with the southern Geo-Environmental Team
  • Lead the technical development of the Team
  • Assisting the office Partner to lead and manage the Geo-Environmental Team
  • Manage existing clients and develop further opportunities
  • Look to grow the Team on the back of new and repeat clients
  • Be responsible for resourcing and delivering to a financial target
  • Raise awareness of Ridge by attendance at networking events, seminars and business development events
  • Liaison with the Ridge Civil and Structural Engineering Teams in the north who will be a source of work and support

Experience and Skills Required:


  • Relevant degree in Geology, Environmental Science
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of highly skilled Geo-Environmental Engineers
  • Experience working for a UK multidiscipline consultancy, preferably in the northwest
  • Chartered Membership of a professional organisation such as the Geological Society or CIWEM
  • Experience of quantitative human health, groundwater and groundgas risk assessments
  • Ideally knowledge of asbestos regulations and associated testing and risk assessment
  • You will have experience with running projects from quotes through to completion (including risk assessments, reports, calculations, drawings, specifications), whilst demonstrating commercial awareness in winning work
  • Experience in building a team and mentoring junior staff
  • Business development experience and great communication skills
  • Most projects have a contamination and geotechnical requirement, so knowledge of both sectors is important.
