    Job summary

    We are looking foran enthusiastic self-motivated individual to join our innovative Countywide Team.Based in Worcestershire Royal Hospital however some travel around the county is expected dependingupon clinical need. This is a full time position 4 -5 days a week.

    WorcestershireCounty Audiology provides services at Worcester, Kidderminster, Evesham andRedditch hospitals along with several peripheral sites. The service provides direct referralaudiological assessments on adults and children of all ages, whilst supportingand referring onto ENT and other acute services.

    The post will coverall sites in Worcester, Kidderminster and Redditch and other satellite clinics.

    You will need to meetthe requirements for RCCP/AHCS registration BSc(Hons) Audiology or equivalent.

    Main duties of the job

    You will need to be able to demonstratecompetency across all clinical fields of Audiology including, diagnosticassessments of hearing loss, select and fit appropriate hearing aids, takeaural impressions and reassess existing patients hearing and aid provisionaccording to BSA protocols.

    The successful candidate willalso hold a BSc Hons Audiology or equivalent qualification and be registerablewith the AHCS/ RCCP.

    Main duties include:

    Direct referral from General Practitioners.

    ENT Clinics.

    Hearing aid fittings and repairs.

    Hearing aid service appointments.

    Reassessment of hearing and upgrading/reprogramming hearing aids as necessary.

    Job responsibilities

    JOB PURPOSE

    This posthas been established to meet the needs of the local and specialist Adult andChildren's Hearing Service for the County of Worcestershire. The post-holderwill provide a wide range of routine, diagnostic and rehabilitative proceduresto adults and occasionally children. Including patients who may have complex additionalneeds patients who have mental health problems, disabilities and Tinnitus. Service delivery is provided by a range of healthcare scientists(including associate, specialist and advance-level practitioners as well as STPand PTP students), working in acute hospital and community settings. Thepost-holder will also be required to travel to cover clinics countywidedependant on the needs of the service.

    KEY DUTIES

    To carry out all audiological duties, procedures and policies inaccordance with BSA, BAA, RCCP and the Trust Policies and Procedures.

    To dispense and maintain digital hearing aids, using MHAS guidelines andprotocols to adults to include real ear measurement(REM)

    To maintain community profession of audiological services that mayinclude domiciliary visits.

    To promote a patient focused approach to care and collaboration with allrelevant health professionals.

    Be prepared to commute around the main sites which include Kidderminster, Redditch and Worcester hospitals as well as smaller peripheral sites.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • BSc Healthcare science in Audiology or equivalent
  • Should be able to register with RCCP / AHCS
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Hospital or equivalent experience in adult audiology. Experience using Auditbase patient management system. Able to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests including tympanometry, otoscopy. Able to perform verifications Real ear measurements. Experience in performing Direct Referrals Identifying red flags for referral to other services.
  • Ability to communicate complex information including relevant technical and / or condition related information to provide patients with a better understanding and allow them to make an informed choice about their health care.

    Essential

  • Computer literate.
  • Up to date knowledge of advances and changes in audiology.
  • MHAS.

  • Must have ability to discern optimal care pathways amid conflicting/incomplete data and complex emotions.
