    We're looking for a passionate Workshop Manager to build a best in class production facility in central London, the only one of its kind.40 million people wear spectacles in the UK alone, but the optical industry hasn't changed in more than three centuries.

    Products are tired, standards are poor, and glasses wearers are used to sub-standard experiences. We're going to change that.

    We already have a brilliant product and brand, an outstanding net promoter score (89), and have moved into a new workshop space in King's Cross, ready for the next stage of our journey.

    Now we want to find the right Workshop Manager to manage all production through our workshop - as we grow to become one of the world's most innovative, customer centric, spectacles companies.


    The role:


    The Workshop Manager will ultimately be responsible for managing the production of all frames which go through our workshop in King's Cross, to the highest quality, and on time.

    We have significant growth plans for our workshop, and the Workshop Manager would be responsible for supporting growth in output by % over the next five years, as we grow into a global brand.

    The role currently reports to the Head of Operations.


    The role will include:


    Managing the full end-to-end production of all Bespoke and Bespoke+ orders, received via our stores or online via the Cubitts AppCreating small commercial runs of framesManaging the production of all prototypes, samples and experimental framesOverseeing the production of technical drawings and CNC drawingsOperating equipment such as in-house CNC machine, lasercutter, barrels, bridge bumpers, etcRecruiting the workshop team, hiring, training and developing the team, including managing the rotas and resource requirementsManaging all frame repairs and 'rehab' services, as well as frame matting, nosepads additions and other adjustmentsSourcing materials (acetate, horn and optical hardware) and machinery to develop the workshop Training others on making spectacles, including frame making classes to the general publicProducing regular reports for the rest of the team.

    Cataloguing and photographing all frames that come through the workshop to create a long term permanent archiveInitially managing a team of 2 FTE.

    You will be responsible for recruiting, training and developing the team to be the envy of the industry.

    You will work closely with other parts of the business - operations, glazing, retail, ecommerce, customer servicesRequirementsWho you are:Excellent and relevant experience of CNC and modern production methods are a bonus but not requiredHave strong experience in 3D Cad, such as Rhino, Autodesk Fusion 360 and SolidworksAn effective builder of teams, taking pride in how you recruit, manage and develop your teamsHave a problem solving mindset, and a dynamic approach to efficiency and improvement.

    Be a self-starter with plenty of energy, and outstanding at working under your own initiative and under pressureHave an impeccable eye and passion for design and detail, and high quality standardsEnergised by our values: Pioneers, Proud, For AllOptical experience is not essential.

    We're looking for transferrable skills and a hunger for improvement, over an approach to doing things a traditional way. Experienced at working cross functionally with great communication skills.

    Bippit Contract:
    Full Time, 40 hours. Based in our HQ, Brewery Road, King's Cross.


    Salary:
    Manager Level 1-3 depending on experience. £36,420-£41,119.
