Salary:
£18,676 - £23,639.20 actual salary per annum depending on experience


30 hours per week Lecturer in Professional Construction, 52 weeks per year


As our
Lecturer in Professional Construction, you
will work primarily with students engaged across a range of courses providing support needed to achieve their programme of study.

The post-holder will need to be innovative in their teaching methods and responsible for aspects of leadership within the curriculum.

Responsibilities of our
Lecturer in Professional Construction:

  • Deliver teaching and learning, ensuring stretch, challenge and engagement of students of all ages and abilities. Collation and submission of financial claims as required to appropriate funding bodies and partners as required.
  • Plan, prepare and update all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials, using Canvas.
  • Lead, coordinate and support course activities which will support the achievement of curriculum area targets. Accurately carry out the qualification completion process within the departmental systems in a timely manner.
  • Take responsibility and facilitate academic tutorials for students.
  • Be involved in the marketing, promotion, recruitment and interviewing of students, including attending open events, enrolment events, amongst other activities.
  • Assess, monitor, and record feedback to students to facilitate their best achievement using the College's data systems and processes, working to exam board guidelines and quality systems.
  • Lead, coordinate and support IV/IQA processes within the curriculum area.
  • Contribute to the quality assurance processes and curriculum design within the area.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with colleagues within the curriculum area as and when required.

What we're looking for in our
Lecturer in Professional Construction:

  • Subject specific Level 3/4 qualification
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training/Cert Ed/PGCE (or willingness to achieve within two years)
  • Minimum of a level 2 qualification in English and maths
  • Trade background in construction or civil engineering
  • Oral, written and presentation skills
  • Cert. Ed/ PGCE or willingness to work towards
  • Able to work with students of all ages in classroom, workshop and one to one situation, including students from Hull College
  • Professional development within Construction
