We are looking for a Senior Financial Officer to join our rapidly expanding team in Edinburgh
You will maintain precise and up-to-date records, providing crucial information to support decision-making processes.

This role is essential in tracking and organising financial data, contributing to the organisation's overall financial stability and success.

You'll spend your time:


  • Assisting in oversight of monthly accruals, prepayments and similar accounting entries
  • Reviewing employee expense claims, ensuring correct VAT treatment
  • Working with budget holders to analyse and track expenditures against budget
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial information for board meetings
  • Supporting team to ensure general ledger reconciliations are maintained monthly
  • Reviewing and oversight of asset registers and stock management
  • Reviewing bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts
  • Completing UK and European VAT returns
  • Preparing of quarterly management accounts and monthly internal reporting
  • Liaising with HMRC as and when required
  • Supporting the financial controller with preparations for the yearend, audit and annual budgeting process
  • Liaising with procurement, quality and the rest of the business to ensure strong financial controls are in place

The key experience we're looking for:

  • Proficiency in "Xero" accounting software or similar
  • A solid understanding of IFRS accounting standards
  • Experience in dealing with crossborder transactions would be desirable
  • Attention to detail is essential to ensure that transactions are recorded correctly, numbers are accurate, and errors are identified and corrected promptly
  • Strong organisational and time management skills are necessary to meet deadlines and maintain an efficient workflow
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, addressing queries, and building professional relationships

The following would be advantageous:


  • Ideally, you will hold a recognised qualification (ACCA/ICAS or AAT)
  • Previous experience working with charities

Interview process:


  • Video call with a member of the Talent Acquisition team (Virtual)
  • 1st Stage (exploratory) Interview with the Hiring Manager (In-Person or Virtual)
  • 2nd Stage (competencybased) Interview with the Hiring Manager & wider team (In-Person or Virtual)
