    Senior Geospatial Developer

    Everything and everybody has a location.

    As a Senior Geospatial Developer, working within our Intelligence Business Unit, your primary focus will be on creating custom web applications that harness the power of geospatial technology (including, but not limited to, ESRI ArcGIS API for Java Script and MapBox)

    Roke are a leading technology & engineering company with clients spanning National Security, Defence and Industry 4.0 through our Futures business and Intelligence as a Service. You will work alongside our customers to solve their complex and unique challenges.

    Our Geollect team look for relationships and patterns in open source intelligence (OSINT) data to enable understanding of where and when significant events are happening or are going to happen. Geollect's UK leading work forms an integral part of our Intelligence offering, which utilises geospatial intelligence to anticipate and react quickly to these events, providing effective decision-making and huge cost savings.

    These solutions support a wide range of use cases from military application to risk analysis for the global maritime economy. As our next Senior Geospatial Developer, you will design exiting user interfaces that are compatible with various devices and web browsers. As well as managing, maintaining, and developing current geospatial backend / frontend applications.

    It's not about just being an expert in geospatial platforms, it's about using your knowledge in a diverse and welcoming culture where you can have a voice. You will be one of the 'go to' people regarding geospatial portals, sharing new ideas, knowledge sharing and upskilling colleagues.

    Your roles and responsibilities
    * Design, develop and maintain custom web apps.
    * Keep on top of emerging geospatial trends and technologies.
    * Develop new and intuitive ways to best display and interrogate geospatial data.
    * Collaborate with data scientists, geospatial analysts as well as the business development team to understand requirements and develop solutions.
    * Lead technical teams in support of a diverse range of projects.

    Skills and experience we are after
    * Experience in the development of web apps and platforms using, for example, Esri ArcGIS JavaScript API, MapBox or other pertinent geospatial tools.
    * You have a bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or relevant experience.
    * Extensive experience developing geospatial platforms and applications.
    * Development experience with GIS mapping applications and geoprocessing tools.
    * Experience in using Esri and MapBox APIs, python and REST.

    Nice to haves
    * Familiarity with python.
    * Experience providing support in project focused environments.
    * Proven experience in delivering high quality outputs to a deadline.

    Alongside hybrid and flexible working options, you'll find our Gloucester site in a business park two minutes from junction 11A of the M5; The site allows easy access to our local customer base. Set on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, you are never far from a picturesque view or lunch time walk.

    Clearances
    Due to the nature of this role, we require you to be eligible to achieve SC clearance.
