Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter Supervisor to join our esteemed client. Our client operates a well-established manufacturing plant and is looking for a dedicated individual to join their team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and collaborating closely with the Engineering Managers, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of an on-site team of Mechanical Fitters.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead and promote a culture of "worldclass engineering" principles within the Engineering Team.
  • Supervise and coordinate onsite teams and subcontractors, ensuring timely and safe completion of tasks according to required standards.
  • Allocate work and ensure its completion in compliance with health and safety regulations, project schedules, and engineering/mechanical standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers and Chemical Engineers on new engineering/mechanical developments and their implementation, such as production methods, process flow, machinery and equipment selection, fabrication, and tooling.
  • Identify, source, and ensure timely delivery of relevant materials and consumables, minimizing project/production disruptions while maintaining inventory records.
  • Assist the Production Manager in the efficient and safe operation of the production plant and equipment, including troubleshooting production processes.
  • Take responsibility for preventative, reactive, and scheduled maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Lead or assist in new engineering/mechanical projects, including installations, modifications, design, fabrication, procurement, commissioning, and debugging.
  • Perform daytoday plant upkeep, reactive and preventive maintenance, support pilot plant work, undertake reconditioning work on plant equipment, and assist in the development and implementation of new production lines.
  • Identify engineering/mechanical improvements with a strong focus on safety, execute improvement projects from start to finish, and support pilot plant activities as required.
  • Review and implement risk assessments and issue Permits to Work, ensuring compliance with hot work, working at height, and confined space permits for both external contractors and internal personnel.
  • Supervise contractors and other personnel on specific jobs and tasks.
  • Report and address health and safety, environmental, and qualityrelated faults, failures, and nonconformances.
  • Provide training and development for production operators regarding plant and equipment amendments.
  • Maintain stock of components, fittings, spares, and fasteners, coordinating with suppliers for their procurement.

Requirements:


  • Demonstrable experience in an engineering supervisory role.
  • Background in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or production engineering.
  • Good understanding of World Class Engineering principles with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical diagrams and drawings.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to approach problemsolving with pragmatism and common sense.
  • Strong faultfinding skills to investigate and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Forwardthinking with the ability to identify trends and develop longterm plans.
  • Fluent in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.
  • Mechanically minded and selfmotivated.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others.

Additional Skills (beneficial):


  • Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with TiG and MiG welding processes and brazing.
  • Understanding of workshop equipment.
  • Knowledge of fluid power.
  • Proficiency in MS Office package.

£50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
