    Job Description

    Our Projects Engineer will support with delivery and instillation on new equipment related to our S+ Program. Ideally you'll be from a maintenance engineering background and you will support with the design layouts, instillation and automation of the equipment on site. This is a hybrid working role, but you'll need to be flexible with travelling and attending sites throughout the UK&I on a regular basis.

    It's a really exciting time to join CHEP and our S+ project team. Our Serialisation, or S+ project is one of the largest and most significant across CHEP, globally and will give you chance to meet and interact with teams all over the wider business.

    Through digitalizing our pallets, we will be able to understand the journey out pallets go on and will enable us to improve customer experience by simplifying business interactions. At an operational level, we're tagging our products with QR codes and installing scanning equipment – this role will have a key part to play in the roll out of the ongoing project across the UK&I sites.

    The new data provided through S+ will helps us find new ways to solve customer problems, make smarter business decisions, and reduce environmental impact.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all projects and associated processes within areas of responsibility are carried out to the highest standards of Zero Harm and in compliance with all local and regional safety and environmental procedures and legislation
    • Successfully execute project plans according to established schedule, cost, and performance standards.
    • Develop technical documents required for capital expenditure request to include cost estimates and project justification
    • Provide technical solutions and ideas to help guide development works needed to achieve aims of program
    • Ensure all local stakeholders are updated and consulted throughout the project
    • Vertical start up of all installations. Commissioning targets met on time.
    • Check electrical drawings and PLC programming meets CHEP Specifications
    • Support maintenance and engineering services at the service centres and support immediate response to equipment breakdowns
    • Assess suitability of projects with regards to layout, productivity, reliability & safety
    • Monitor external contractors
    • Carry out Risk Assessments for machinery safety.
    • Ensure all training of operators and technicians is delivered.
    • Solving of complex retro fit program into existing service center network equipment
    • Provide solutions to unlock development and technical challenges
    • Ensure suppliers adhere to standards and where multiple suppliers are working on the same project ensure seamless integration of each other's equipment.
    • Working in regional Cross functional matrix structure.
    • Project scheduling and key technical decisions required to deliver projects
    • Management of technical and projects safety requirements
    • Enforcement of standards and expected performance levels of suppliers
    • In consultation with key stakeholders decide on direction of development works
    • Placing order for equipment and services within agreed budget

    • Project management techniques and tools
    • Functional Safety and Machinery Safety
    • Good knowledge of Industrial automation and controls systems
    • Working knowledge of Vision, PLC and SCADA systems
    • Working knowledge of Ethernet communication architecture and protocols
    • Cybersecurity risk management
