Sustainability Manager - Social Housing Decarbonisation

Remote Role, Home Based with Travel as Required

Howells Solutions are working in partnership with a leading construction & regeneration contractor to recruit a Sustainability Manager to support the Business Development Team in delivering the company's retrofit and carbon reduction solutions to existingand prospective clients including; Housing association, RSL's and Local Councils.


You will support organisations to deliver their carbon reduction priorities and net zero aspiration whilst assisting in delivering the company's own Carbon Reduction Strategy and transition plan to achieve net zero by 2030.


Sustainability Manager Role:


  • Provide specialist advice and support to clients including identifying customer domestic retrofit, carbon reduction and broader asset management needs and designing solutions to meet them through formal client engagement
  • Provide specialist carbon reduction advice and support to our business including SHEQ, Procurement, Customer Success, operations, and other internal teams as appropriate
  • Support our Customer Success team the development of our ESG and reporting strategy
  • Support our Client Development Planning process with operational colleagues to identify client carbon reduction priorities and translate them into tangible leads and a pipeline of opportunities to provide carbon reduction related services to clients
  • Provide specialist advice to the business development team and operational colleagues on tender production and solution development for bids
  • Support the wider business development team, Group, and operational colleagues to manage relationships with clients, consultants, and other internal and external influencers in relation to carbon reduction and related priorities
  • Seek opportunities for external funding and financing initiatives that can be accessed to support fund carbon reduction for the company or it's clients.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external specialist partners and organisations to develop and deliver our priorities internally and with clients

What are we looking for in a Sustainability Manager?

  • You will be experienced and have knowledge and passion for developing and delivering carbon reduction and retrofit initiatives.
  • You will be people focussed and passionate about changing cultures and behaviours with the ability to effectively communicate information in writing and verbally to colleagues at all levels
  • You will be able to establish and manage effective networks and team working both internally and externally, be comfortable operating at a strategic and operational level as well as being able to share knowledge and skills with colleagues to contributeto the development of team skills.
  • You will be able to identify customer needs and design solutions to meet them and be able to evaluate and measure impact of initiatives implemented
  • You will be a critical thinker, analytical and creative with excellent knowledge of the sustainability policy context; legislative framework; funding regimes and good practice
