What you'll be doing


You'll support the AV Manager and have a number of direct reports which includes (6 x AV Technicians plus 1 x Digital Content Technician).


You will be responsible for the sales of the venue AV packages, providing clients with knowledge and solutions to support their function requirements, inspiring great meetings and events at IET London: Savoy Place.

You'll bring your extensive experience in selling AV technologies and services and have experience or qualifications in the management of conference and live events audio visual, conference call/video, lighting and DMX and staging requirements.

You'll haveexcellent customer service skills and awareness with the ability to work with confidence at a variety of levels of customer.

You'll have excellent communication skills as you will be dealing directly with clients to understand their requirements and eventobjectives; we aim to deliver exceptional customer service every time and you'll bring your experience in this area to help us achieve this.


A flexible approach to working hours is essential to help the venue meet the demands of the AV department rota, this will involve some early morning starts or late evening finishes, weekend work, some bank holidays.

A little more about the role

  • Overall responsibility for sales of the audiovisual services, packages and equipment to make a profit, this includes fixed and mobile AV, lighting, digital display screens, IPTV, stage and production services at IET London: Savoy Place ensuring all facilitiesand services meet agreed standards of procedure and meets the clients' expectations.
  • Achieve or exceed sales budget for AV and Hybrid in 2023 of £467k and £200k respectively
  • Responsibility for the provision, stock control, asset management of all AV equipment including pool equipment and its security
  • With the assistance of the Sales Office, be responsible for ensuring that all appropriate avenues have been investigated and information provided to facilitate clients' bookings and up selling of AV, filming & streaming, conference call/video, lighting,staging
  • Collaboration with clients and/or agent to assess, suggest and develop an appropriate AV technical solution based upon the clients desired outcome, using a consultative approach.
  • Brief, coordinate and supervise all relevant staff (e.g. general ops and technical staff) about the AV aspects of all events.
  • To manage a team of AV Technicians and 1 x Digital Signage Technician whilst the AV Manager manages the Snr AV Technicians
  • To keep skills up to date and be aware of current practice and new developments within venue and events services with primacy to (AV and IT) and after researching, provide analysis and recommendations to the AV Manager

  • Excellent customer service skills and awareness. Ability to work with confidence at a variety of levels of customer.
  • Well presented, with a calm and professional approach.
  • Strong communication skills, with a good level of spoken English.
  • Advanced administration skills, with the ability to juggle and prioritise a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to produce documents on MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Extensive experience selling AV technologies and services within tiered lecture theatres with capacities of up to 45
  • Extensive experience or qualifications in the management of conference and live events audio visual, conference call/video, lighting and DMX and staging requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in selling AV technologies and services for large capacity flat floor events (300 delegates +) 4/5star conference venue/hotel environment.
  • Demonstrate experience selling across multiple room set ups
  • Possess proven staff management skills and experience of coordinating teamwork and working as a closeknit management team.
  • To have operational knowledge of a range of audiovisual hardware and conference call/video equipment
  • Zoom, Teams, Logitech Rally etc.
  • To demonstrate an understanding of video, filming, streaming, and hosting services to include tricaster & Analogue Way systems.
  • To understand LAN networks and IT connectivity to include wifi and vpn.
  • To have an uptodate knowledge of industry leading live event audio, video, filming, streaming, and hybrid technologies.
  • Experience with IPTV systems and digital signage systems i.e. Signage Live and 'Watchout', Cable Time
  • Experience with room control systems i.e. AMX/Crestron style controllers
  • Knowledge of different Audio mixers, amplification systems, microphones, and recording systems.
  • A flexible approach to working hours is essential. Position involves evening, weekend work, some bank holidays and oncall responsibility
