A quick look at the role


Biffa has been successful in being awarded a contract by Circularity Scotland Limited for the delivery of a service to manage DRS collections, counting and processing of single-use drinks containers to commence in 2023.

Biffa is building a dedicated programme team to ensure the design and delivery of the new solution in line with the clients expectations and Biffa's commercial objectives.

The
Health & Safety Business Partner will help the business continually reduce the likelihood and severity of workplace harm.

Your role is to provide professional health and safety support to the business through our health and safety systems, communications, internal/external assurance programmes and delivery of health and safety projects on time and in budget.

To do this you will need to work closely with senior stakeholders in a pro-active and collaborative way to help reach the vision and achieve the mission.


This role is based at the Aberdeen site with travel to operational sites across all Scottish locations

  • Provides expert advice to help the business implement effective H&S risk controls.
  • Uses specialist knowledge and understanding of risk profiles to provide assurance to internal stakeholders.
  • Imparts specialist H&S knowledge to others through education, communication, and training.
  • Partners operational colleagues to develop and implement H&S improvement plans.
  • Advocates organisational learning by using the TopSet methodology for root cause analysis for incident investigations.
  • Collates and interprets data to provide detailed and accurate insight to operational colleagues that they can act upon to help the business continually reduce the likelihood and severity of workplace harm
  • Deputises for the Head of Health & Safety as required.
  • Keeps updated on H&S legislation and upkeeps expert knowledge through selfdriven continuous professional development.

Requirements:


  • A recognised safety qualification and professional status
  • Possess a Lead Auditor qualification or be willing to complete once appointed
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a demonstrably similar role
  • Links H&S solutions to business benefits and results
  • Adopts a collaborative '50:50' approach, where business partner and operational colleagues are jointly involved in the process and outcomes
  • Proven track record in delivering projects on time and in budget
  • Takes a lead to get things done and looks for opportunities to become involved
  • Is proactive in meetings to ensure effective outcomes
  • Develops a strong understanding of issues by using good questioning and listening skills
  • Applies a rational approach to problem solving and decision making whilst helping others to come up with ideas to solve problems
  • Looks for and generates alternative and creative solutions
  • Assesses who the key stakeholders are for a project and devises strategies to get them on board
  • Identifies and overcomes resistance to change
  • Ability to produce creative and engaging health and safety communications
