    Salary: Leadership main scale (LPS22-26) £79,109 - £87,249 per annum + Health Cash Plan and Benefits Package

    Merchants' Academy is a 3-18 Academy located in south Bristol. This is an exciting time to join us as the Academy grows and standards continue to rise. The Academy is very well resourced, where staff and their development is a priority.

    We require a Senior Deputy Headteacher who has a strong moral purpose, is motivated by challenge and a passionate belief in social justice. This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established leadership team and drive the challenges into opportunities.

    Merchants' Academy

    Merchants' Academy is a 3 – 18 Academy located to the south of Bristol. It lies at the heart of the community in Withywood and is currently part of the Venturers Trust, which has eight academies. The Venturers Trust is in advanced discussion with regard to joining E-ACT, which is has 28 academies across the country.

    The Academy is looking for an exceptional school/academy leader to transform the secondary provision and raise standards. The Academy's last Ofsted was in February 2020 and was judged Requires Improvement. Provisional Progress 8 for 2022/2023 is Trust

    The Trust is responsible for eight academies, 3,500 pupils and 700 staff. In addition to Merchants' Academy, the Trust runs five primary schools in Bristol, Montpelier High School and Venturers' Academy for students aged 4 – 18 diagnosed with autism.

    The Trust is jointly sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol.

    The Trust is considering a transfer with a national Trust, E-ACT

    E-ACT is a National or System Leader Multi-Academy Trust, with 28 academies, serving circa 18,000 pupils across multiple regions. It has academies in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Oldham, Buckinghamshire, Northants, Sheffield and Walsall. Without exception, all 28 E-ACT academies have been rated by Ofsted as "Good" or "Outstanding" for leadership and personal development. 97% are rated "Good" or "Outstanding" for behaviour and 93% for quality of education. Pupil outcomes are above the national average at Key stage 2 and secondary attainment is improving at twice the national average. Over the last two years, E-ACT has been driving an increased focus on the wellbeing of children, families and colleagues, as well as academic outcomes. At this year's MAT Excellence awards, E-ACT has been recognised as MAT of the Year.
