Are you motivated to really make a difference to people's lives tackling such things as environmental offences, noise & smoke pollution, highways obstructions or licensed premises compliance?

If the answer is yes you may be the right one to join the expanding Neighbourhood Enforcement Team.


Neighbourhood Enforcement Officers work closely with other council teams in particular Housing, Licencing, Clean Streets as well as others in the community such as the police, business, citizens groups and the council's environment enforcement contractor.

You will have plenty of opportunity for shadowing colleagues, for learning and development and will be part of a supportive team.


You will:

  • Focus primarily on investigating nuisance complaints relating to noise, smoke and light pollution involving both private and Bristol City Council tenanted properties
  • Focus on carry out compliance visits to licenced premises and investigating conditon breaches or other licensable activity
  • Deliver informal and formal actions which tackle a range of neighbourhood issues including noise, pollution, licensing, waste, street scene, highways and other relevant neighbourhood priorities
  • Deliver sustainable "safe, clean and green" outcomes for Bristol's neighbourhoods through a combination of prevention, education, partnership and enforcement action to achieve lasting behaviour change in the city

Please note that the role will also sometimes involve working early mornings, evenings and some weekends. You will also be required to work a minimum of 60 hours a year out of hours generally late nights on Friday and Saturday (approximately 8 weekends a year) to carry out noise assessments and licensed premise visits.
