Salary:
£23,000 -£30,000 per annum

Holiferm is a biotechnology company that invests in developing sustainable and eco-friendly methods for manufacturing chemicals.

We are based in the North West of England with a research and development laboratory in Manchester, a pilot plant in Daresbury and a commercial plant on the Wirral, Liverpool.

Our first process to be developed through each stage is our patented fermentation with gravity separation technology, which we use to produce our biosurfactants and sophorolipids.

Our commercial plant produces these at kilotonne scale for our global customers from local, independent companies to multinationals.

We are actively working on other processes for the manufacture of other molecules to diversify our portfolio. This will move us closer to our mission of removing the need to use petrochemicals in the production process.

Role Responsibilities

As a Lab Technician you will be:

Responsible for supporting daily laboratory tasks and activities at the Holiferm laboratory in Manchester.
Supporting labscale fermentation experiments, maintaining equipment, following downstream processing procedures and standard analytic tasks.
Working together with the process development and production teams to perform procedures and ensure proper documentation.
Assigned to a specific project and support the scientists and engineers of the team with their experimental work.
Part of a lab support team to align workload, and proactively keep the lab and equipment in best working conditions.

Role Requirements
Running daily laboratory operations such as
- preparing chemical solutions, e.g., fermentation media or stock solutions
- using standard laboratory equipment, e.g., centrifuge or pH meter

Aseptic techniques for working with yeast and bacteria, e.g., of autoclave and microbial safety cabinets

It would be desirable to have experience using analytical equipment such as HPLC and have experience in the field of biotechnology and fermentation-based manufacturing processes (although this is not essential)
