ROLE PURPOSE
Leep Utilities owns and operates regulated and non-regulated multi-utility networks across the UK.

With sites in MediaCityUK, Liverpool Waters and Canary Wharf, our broad range of capabilities includes electricity, water and wastewater, alongside heating, cooling and hot water services.

Reporting to the Head of Regulation & Compliance, this role is a critical and central function towards providing business wide assurance against mandatory obligations and deliverables; raising risks and working cross functionally to ensure any identified risks are addressed in a timely manner to keep the business safe.


This role is responsible for performing detailed reviews, observations, and continuous monitoring that ensures measurement of adherence to service level agreements, regulatory requirements, and internally established policy and procedural standards.

Given the complexity of obligations and key business measures across both regulated and private networks, we are looking for an experienced auditor who can both define this role and required assurance policies or procedures, recommend forward looking audit plans to minimise risk and continue to evolve the function aligned to business growth.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs regulatory, compliance, operational and service level audits of company departments, functions and processes as directed.
  • Utilises audit procedures to verify the adequacy of existing process controls through review and observation, detailed testing, and continuous monitoring techniques.
  • Conducts risk assessments and identifies process controls in place to mitigate/eliminate risk exposure.
  • Examines Training and Operations functions to ensure proper/timely internal communication of all critical deliverables.
  • Performs analysis to conclude on the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control environment, corporate governance, and compliance management system.
  • Identifies process control gaps and improvement opportunities as they relate to client service level agreements, applicable regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Documents results and findings adequately via audit workpapers, test spreadsheets, and remediation/ action plans.
  • Prepares timely draft reports for the Head of Regulation & Compliance.
  • Assists with creating and enhancing internal audit standards and practices.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • An understanding of the Water market and/or Energy industry is essential.
  • Awareness of regulatory obligations or experience of working within a highly regulated environment.
  • 23 years of proven working experience as an audit professional, with compliance management and/or billing/collections industry experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the financial, servicing and/or collection industries.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements set forth by Ofwat, Ofgem and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
  • Proven ability to gather and analyse data, identify and document findings, and create audit reports.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
