Surrey Virtual School

The work of Virtual Schools is underpinned by DfE statutory guidance which sets out the duties and responsibilities towards each group of children.

For children looked after we are the "corporate parent" and have a statutory duty to promote the child's educational achievement.

A 'Virtual School' is a way of bringing together the educational information about children and young people who are cared for by the local authority as if they were a single school - no matter where in the country they live.

Each Virtual School has a Headteacher and together with the team, work with partners to create a culture of high expectation and aspiration around the groups of children in scope of their role, addressing barriers to educational progress and achievement.
