    Platforms & Software (P&S)

    The Platformsand Software (P&S)division maintains a centre of excellence for technology and broader infrastructure-related innovation, translating market needs into core expansion programmes to enable market development. We ensure that products and services are constantly pushing the boundaries of satellite communications. The P&S team is responsible for delivering development programmes, including satellites and launchers, ground infrastructure (ground stations, networks, user terminals and access technology), regulatory, market access and product and service development.

    Job Description

    Primary role purpose:

    The Platform Engineering team are looking for a motivated, passionate, and professional individual to join our Test and Verification Services team as a Integration Test Engineer. The Test and Verification Services team are responsible for the delivery of our Airline programmes.

    Viasat is currently going through significant growth and this role will evolve to reflect the changing business needs. The role may require the ability to travel.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Execution of System Integration acceptance test campaigns
    • Identify and raise defects, for escalation to the relevant parties and track the defects and the resulting remedial actions through to closure
    • Developing, and improving, test procedures and test processes
    • Produce concise technical and analysis reports from testing and effectively communicate results from testing activities to management
    • Attend meetings involving developers, sub-contractors and customers
    • Contribute to the development of test automation tools and scripts
    • Develop flight test procedures and scripts and perform data analysis on test results

    Qualifications

    Essential Knowledge and Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in a related technical field such as Computing Science or Telecommunications
    • Have excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts ( Routing)
    • Extensive experience on Linux administration. RHCSA certification or equivalent knowledge is a plus
    • In depth knowledge of Scripting Languages (Python/Bash/Perl/etc.)
    • Good technical writing skills
    • Communicate effectively, with excellent spoken and written English
    • Produce clear, well-structured documentation
    • Work well within a team
    • Able to work autonomously and have a good attention to detail
    • Able to adapt and learn quickly
    • Diligently focus on and complete tasks with a sense of urgency
    • Able to identify and systematically analyze problems/issues/bugs
    • Able to independently manage and prioritize their own tasks
    • Experience using test management packages (JIRA)
    • Excellent capacity at debugging complex systems, developing and implementing quick fixes as well as leading and delivering long term permanent solutions to problems
