    Description

    Mechanical Fitter - Machine Assembler

    Birmingham, B24 0RD.

    6-12 Month contract position - which may lead to further work.

    Monday - Friday 8 hours per day 40 hours per week. (Over time available when the project calls for it)

    The company has been engineering specialist machinery and robot cells for the manufacturing industry for more than a decade. Delivering world class, high precision mechanical and electrical solutions with complete installation packages for all engineering needs. The huge range of work carried out by the company includes building single discipline and large scale multi discipline specialist machines for the automotive industry, automated retail packing industry, print industry and many other bespoke applications. With ever-changing technologies within manufacturing production, the company is well placed to provide both collaborative robot and integrated high speed automated machinery to customers across the UK. With this is mind this is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanical fitter - machine assembler to join the engineering team to support a range of new build projects.

    Duties

    As a suitably experienced mechanical fitter - machine assembler you will be working within a clean, bright, well-maintained workshop assembling a range of mechanical components which will form part of larger conveyor and high-speed automated machines. Primary responsibilities will include bolting small hand-held actuators to metal plates, inserting small pneumatic rams into lifting frames and fixing control arms to metal box section all from drawings supplied by the design team. Other duties will include mechanical and pneumatic testing, setting, fault finding, commissioning, and rectifying the varying controls systems. Upon completion of the build, you will also be required to work on site to install the new machinery.

    About You

    Based ideally in Birmingham you will need to live within a commutable distance of B24 0RD as no travel or accommodation costs are covered for this role.

    Demonstrable experience of mechanical fitting, machine assembly, machine setting, checking and fault-finding is essential for this role as you will be required to manage your own work.

    Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

    Ideally NVQ, City and Guilds or HNC Qualified in Mechanical Engineering. These qualifications aren't essential if you have the experience outlined above.

    CSCS is preferred.
