Mechanical Fitter - Special Purpose Machinery

To 40K plus annual bonus

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team and play a crucial role in the assembly, installation, and maintenance of complex special purpose machinery involving large rotating drums.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to assemble machinery components and sub-assemblies with precision and accuracy.
• Fit, align, and integrate large rotating drums, bearings, seals, and other mechanical components into machinery assemblies.
• Conduct installations of assembled machinery on-site, ensuring proper levelling, alignment, and integration with existing systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and carry out repairs on installed machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members to resolve technical problems and implement improvements.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental protocols throughout the assembly, installation, and maintenance processes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in the assembly and maintenance of special purpose machinery or industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Knowledge of mechanical principles, such as bearings, seals, gears, and rotating equipment.
• Experience with rigging, lifting, and positioning heavy machinery components.
• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good physical condition to work in a demanding industrial environment.
• Valid forklift license or willingness to obtain one.
