    Job summary

    We are delighted to invite applications for a Specialty Doctor post in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in Child and Adolescent Mental Health / Paediatric Neurodisability / General Practice with experience in mental health (10PAs) to join the established Centre for Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology and Rare Diseases (CIPPRD) & CIPP Rett Centre. We are a national and specialist outpatient Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. Part time applications will be considered.

    We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated specialty doctor who is committed to providing and maintaining high quality and standard of psychopharmacological service and patient care for children and young people with multiple neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions, major mental illness, and rare disease conditions which can be degenerative and life-limiting.

    The service provide expert consultation with services nationally on whole-person medicine and integrated mental and physical healthcare. We are a national specialist psychopharmacology centre which provides whole-person medicine and have excellent links with other national paediatric specialties, brain injury and third sector organisations. We are well-regarded by services and service-users across the UK.

    Main duties of the job

    The postholder will provide specialist psychiatric assessments and physical examinations of children with severe and complex neurodevelopmental and / or neuropsychiatric difficulties. They will also follow-up and care co-ordinate these children in the Medication Stabilization and Monitoring Clinic and in the CIPPRD Follow-up Clinic under the supervision of the consultants. The post holder will need to complete online clinical outcomes using the HealthTrackerTM, a digital health monitoring platform, along with assisting in collecting psychophysiological measures using non-invasive sensor-based wearables (watches) and review patient reported outcomes routinely, to provide optimal clinical care.

    The team has an established model in providing telemedicine care for our patients prior to the Covid pandemic. A hybrid model combining in-person and remote working is supported, in line with service needs and Trust guidance.

    Job responsibilities

    The appointee will be professionally responsible to The Head and Lead Consultant for the Centre for Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology and Rare Diseases. Effective working relationships between the medical team, the multi-disciplinary team and local service management are essential to the overall effective working of the service.

    The postholder will carry out specialist psychiatric assessments and physical examinations of children with severe and complex neurodevelopmental and / or neuropsychiatric difficulties. They will also follow-up and provide care coordination. The postholder will need to complete online clinical outcomes using the HealthTrackerTM, a digital health monitoring platform, along with assisting in collecting psychophysiological measures using non-invasive sensor-based wearables (watches) and review patient reported outcomes routinely, to provide optimal clinical care.

    There are excellent opportunities for professional development including management, training, research, and audit experience. There is also opportunity for teaching locally within the service to multi-disciplinary and medical colleagues, to post-graduates at Kings College London, and to psychiatry trainees on the Maudsley/SLaM training scheme.

    Translational research including innovative clinical trials on Rett Syndrome is currently underway in CIPPRD. Opportunities to participate in research are available and encouraged

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) (A/I)
  • MBBS or equivalent (A/I)
  • Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Minimum 1-year psychiatry, paediatrics or general practice at SHO/ registrar level or equivalent (A/I)
  • Extensive clinical experience of working with children and adolescents (A/I)
  • Experience of Safeguarding Children framework (A/I)
