Plym Bridge House is a regionally respectedteam who engages in rewarding work withthe young people in our care, and is also part of theSouth West Provider Collaborative whose aim is to improve the care pathways foryoung people and keep them closer to home.
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled,compassionate and caring staff nurse to join our multi-disciplinary team atPlym Bridge House. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference tothe lives of the young people in our care and you will need to be committed toproviding care of the highest quality to the young people we support.
Candidates will need to possess excellentcommunication skills and empathy as you will be working alongside otherprofessionals, families and carers. The successful candidate will work in anestablished professional MDT team; supporting the clinical team in the deliveryof therapeutic programmes and plans of care.
We offer a positive and supportiveenvironment to work in, with in-house bespoke training relating directly toCAMHS and inpatient care.
This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
Main duties of the job
Toimprove children and young peoples mental health through effective managementof a CAMHS Tier 4 unit providing safe, effective, cost efficient, timely andaccessible services that are in accordance with national and local prioritiesand responsive to the needs and views of local children, young people and theirfamilies.
To offerpsychological/Mental Health nursing care and therapy (at a skill levelappropriate to banding), to young people who are inpatients.
To do this as part ofa coordinated team, under the guidance and leadership of the nurse withcontinuing responsibility for the treatment programme.
To act as a namednurse in the assessment, planning & provision of nursing care.
To contributeto the establishment of a positive working environment and open learningculture, which fosters high morale and commitment amongst all staff, and thatpromotes wellbeing, personal development and continuous improvement in thestandards of business activities and professional practice.

Job descriptionJob responsibilities
ClinicalFunctions:
Toprovide mental health/psychosocial nursing care throughout the 24 hour daythrough the operation of an internal rotation shift system. This is to includepotentially working every other weekend and two weeks of nights in every eight.
Toparticipate in a multi-disciplinary/nursing care team that implements andmaintains a therapeutic milieu.
Toprovide individual therapeutic counselling sessions for young people who areresident in the unit.
Toact as a named nurse for young people who are inpatients.
Tofacilitate therapeutic group work within the unit.
Tobe trained in and actively participate in the management of violence andaggression via approved physical intervention techniques.
Tobe responsible under the guidance of the Clinical Team Leader for the provisionof nursing care plans in collaboration with young people & parents/carerswhere appropriate.
Topresent information and material at case conferences and CPA/MDT reviews in asystematic way, and to ensure that care plans are changed to reflect thedecisions taken.
Towork with the families/carers/networks (Triangle of Care) of young peopleallocated to you.
Toactively participate in line management supervision and appraisal process inaccordance with the Organisational policy
Toarrange & participate in regular group & individual Clinicalsupervision.
Moreexperienced nurses to deliver line management, appraisals or clinicalsupervision to junior staff.
Tomaintain & contribute to standards of nursing care, policies &procedures.
Tosupport the function of the Childrens and Young Persons Place of Safety (CYPPOS) and offer clinical advice where required. To have knowledge of Section135/136

Toeat meals with young people at set times, and support the needs of a youngperson within the context of the Plym Bridge House eating disorder carepathway.

Theworkload (clinical and operational) will be highly unpredictable andinterruptions often require immediate action from the post holder.
Supportingcolleagues and families in managing difficult behaviour, verbal and physicalaggression, and levels of suicidal risk in young people.
EmotionalEffort
Frequentexposure to distressing or emotional circumstances examples include dealingwith patient issues relating to child protection or risk to life. Participationin team processes and with staff issues, safety, risk management, servicecontinuity.

Beable to work a full 24hr pattern of work, hours will include early shifts07:30-15:30, late shifts 12:30-20:30, twilight duties 15:00-23:00 and wakingnight shifts 20:00-08:00. The needs of a 24 hour 7 day a week service willtherefore incorporate working regular weekends. All duties will include amandatory 30 minute break or longer if required dependant on the lengthy of theshift.
