    The Production Team are looking to fill the role of Tool Change Shift Technician in their Wolverhampton facility. The Technician will be working as part of a team to ensure the machinery runs as efficiently as possible whilst making quality goods, fit for purpose. Learn new skills to eventually use to perform tasks under limited supervision to the same high standard. Additionally, they will be responsible for the safe removal and correct replacement of machine tooling within the factory and to process machines to standard whilst on shift.

    The Technician will work on a continental shift pattern, 2 x days (06:45am – 19:00pm) 2 x nights (18:45pm – 07:00am) and 4 x days off. You will be required to arrive at this time to hand the shift over to the next Tool Change Shift Technician, this will be paid for.

    Position Title: Tool Change Shift Technician

    What you will bring to the role:

    A reliable, dependable candidate who will bring a team player mindset with the ability to work autonomously as needed.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Apply knowledge gained of setting, processing and running of blow moulding machines progressing through a challenging training plan.
    • Perform day-to-day general remedial work including repairs of plant, equipment and machinery and replacement of consumable machine parts.
    • Attend simple breakdowns and conduct remedial action for internal NCRs (non-conformances)
    • Assist and learn calibration and repair techniques for machines and ancillary equipment.
    • Escalate electrical and complex breakdowns to the engineering team.
    • Help maintain the production areas to a high standard.
    • Ensure all necessary documentation is updated and produced in a timely manner.
    • To be responsible for all aspects of tooling/colour/material changing whilst on shift.
    • Achieve all production and changeover targets to ensure the efficient running of machinery.
    • To be responsible for ensuring that the specification and the quality of the product is to company standard.
    • Be responsible for liaising with the Planning and Production Manager to ensure that machines are re-started after a change with minimum scrap and in the minimum amount of time whilst completing all required paperwork before handover.
    • To ensure that the production plan is followed to ensure company targets are met.
    • Identify and implement efficiency improvements to reduce machine downtime and improve production run whilst liaising with the Engineering Department and the Planning and Production Manager.
    • To ensure that all tool changes and other maintenance work are carried out within Health and Safety guidelines.
    • Ensure that during tool changes the environment is kept clean, tidy and safe.
    • Comply with requests from management to ensure the smooth running of operations, this may include working flexibly as required.

    The successful candidate will possess:

    • Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
    • High level of mechanical aptitude.
