    The Economist is seeking an experienced Tableau professional to join our Business Intelligence Team as a Senior BI Analyst .

    We use Tableau to create impactful, easy-to-use dashboards, which support key people in the business to make decisions. As part of this team, you will be typically using data sets created by our data engineers, and creating Tableau dashboards to help drive the growth of the business. Presenting your work to the business and influencing them to use your work is a key part of the role.

    You will translate stakeholder requirements into Tableau dashboards, working in an iterative way. You will use best practice data visualisation guidelines, ensuring content can be consumed by anyone in the business with minimum effort. Our goal is to drive up Tableau dashboard usage to facilitate more data-driven decisions from more people, and to enable self-service BI across all verticals at the Economist.

    Accountabilities

    In the role you would be expected to:

  • Deliver impactful dashboards, with data visualisations that drive action in Tableau
  • Present your findings to stakeholders in an engaging way
  • Iterate on dashboards to keep them relevant
  • Identify ways to automate currently manual processes, using Tableau to visualise
  • Share your Tableau knowledge with others across the team and company to help build a Tableau community
  • Help to ensure best practice visualisation standards are employed in the team's Tableau content
  • Build the right Tableau published data sources to enable self-service BI
  • Gather new business requirements and collaborate closely with our users
  • Build using our template to ensure consistent look and feel for the end user
  • Indicators used to measure success in this role include:

  • Increasing the usage of Tableau dashboards in frequency of usage and number of users
  • Improved ability for our users to make business decisions using data visualisations
  • Measurable increase in the quality of data across BI applications
  • Ease of accessing business information
  • Reduction in ad-hoc reporting / data requests through self-service BI
  • Optimised BI solutions delivered within time, quality and budget constraints
  • Experience, skills and professional attributes

    To succeed in the role you must have:

  • Extensive experience building and enhancing Tableau workbooks
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • High levels of energy, enthusiasm and passion to succeed in a dynamic environment
  • Hands on experience working with Tableau Online (or Server)
  • Experience managing key business stakeholders
  • Knowledge of best practice data visualisation techniques
  • A graduate degree (or equivalent)
  • It would also be desirable if you have:

  • Experience of working with subscription-based data sets and related metrics
  • Previous experience delivering a BI tool migration
  • Experience using Snowflake and SQL
  • Tableau certification
  • Tableau Public profile
