Description
This is an exciting dual role that has been recently developed for the expanding Hepatology service.

You will work alongside both the Hepatology Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists to meet the needs of an increasing cohort of patients.

You will have contact with patients and their relatives on a daily basis.

You will be required to manage their own workload which will include a Fibroscan clinic.

A Fibroscan is a non-invasive test that you will perform in a clinical setting before the Hepatology Consultants or Nurse Specialists review the patient.

Alongside the clinical aspects of this role there will be a requirement to assist with administration tasks including clinic scheduling and management.

The Hepatology service has continued to grow since the first Hepatology Consultant joined the Trust in 2015. We now have 4 Consultants and 2 Clinical Nurse Specialists working across all 3 hospital sites. Flexible working is supported internally within the hepatology service but also by Trust management.

You will become part of a friendly team that is active across all 3 sites in various departments including inpatient wards, outpatient clinics and endoscopy.

This role would suit someone who enjoys both clinical and non-clinical work, with a passion for providing excellent patient care.

You will be responsible for monitoring and tracking patients through the hepatology pathways, maintaining surveillance of pending results and identifying and escalating actions required in a timely fashion to an appropriate person.

Identify as soon as possible individuals that may have missed hepatology follow up, where assessment or follow up is incomplete or where referrals have not happened or monitoring for transfer to Hepatology outpatient clinics following a Fibroscan.

To support the weekly and monthly Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting for patients being monitored, through the preparation of the MDT list and coordination of the actions following the MDT meeting.

Manage telephone enquiries, often of a sensitive nature from staff, patients, relatives, consultants, and external organisations in a constructive and empathetic manner, referring to the appropriate person where necessary.

At East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, we are proud of the range of general and specialist services we provide and our 6,000 or so dedicated staff ensure our patients get the best care.

Our ability to be flexible and innovative in the way in which we work and deliver our services to our catchment has never been more important than it is now.

We run the following hospitals:

  • The Lister Hospital, Stevenage
  • New Queen Elizabeth II (New QEII), Welwyn Garden City
  • Hertford County, Hertford
  • Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC), Northwood

We have ambitious plans to become an outstanding, patient-led Trust where dedicated staff provide high-quality, compassionate care to our patients.

We continue to undergo significant transformation and our staff and patients are at the heart of delivering this ambitious agenda.
