Description

Providing an equitable educational experience for all of our students is fundamental at
Stourport High School & VIth Form College.

Ensuring all students can access education to meet their individual needs is, therefore, a priority.

The Attendance Administrator will be responsible for monitoring and updating student attendance and punctuality on a daily basis.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and play a key role in improving and maintaining attendance in the school, whilst demonstrating our key values by having a positive mind-set, being able to use your initiative and working collaboratively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To embody the values, vision and ethos of Stourport High School & VI Form College and Severn Academies Educational Trust
  • Assist the Principal in delivering policy which will ensure high quality and successful outcomes for Stourport High School & VI Form College.
  • Take responsibility for your own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise.
  • Modelling and promoting Stourport High School & VI Form College and the Trust's wellbeing principles.
  • Contributing to the continued delivery and development of the Trusts aims as outlined in our 'Pledge'.
  • To engage with and assist the Student Services Lead in providing support to parents and carers to improve whole school attendance.
  • To provide efficient administrative support that enables effective monitoring and underpins strategies for raising student attendance.
  • To engage with parents and carers, developing positive relationships that support improvements in whole school attendance.
  • To keep school attendance registers up to date and provide relevant information to staff.
  • To keep abreast of best practice developments in order to inform internal procedures and processes are most effective.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • To provide administrative support that underpins the implementation of operational/strategic plans relating to improving attendance.
  • To be responsible for the recording of all attendance data and reasons for students' absence using the school management information system (MIS), ensuring records are accurate, up to date and comply with statutory duties.
  • To be the first point of contact for all attendance issues and to handle all telephone calls relating to student absence.
  • To manage the school's alert system for making parents aware of nonnotified absence.
  • To follow up on missing marks raising immediate issues with relevant SLT.
  • To carry out postregistration checks identifying vulnerable students.
  • To amend attendance records from signing in and out registers.
  • To generate accurate, timely attendance reports.
  • To produce and interpret information relating to attendance patterns.
  • To coordinate the administrative processes in cases of regular nonattendance or unauthorised absence including referral for fixed penalty fines/prosecution.
  • To process school correspondence in respect of attendance.
  • To carry out administrative tasks associated with the request for authorised leave.
  • To organise meetings with students and parents as required.
  • To be aware of the sensitives around handling student data and carry out duties in accordance with the General Data Protection regulations.
  • To work as part of the wider team of general administrative support in school as required.
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, as defined by line management from timetotime.

Any other duties commensurate with the scale of the post as may be required under the direction of the Principal.


General

  • The postholder must promote safe working practices, will act financially responsibly and consistently with external regulations and the Trust Code of Conduct and associated policies.
