An outstanding opportunity for an experienced rail and civil engineering Site Agent looking to hone their skills and experience in a rail and civil engineering project environment. As Site Agent you will responsible for overseeing Building and Civils Projects throughout Scotland.

Business Unit

A busy and fast paced project and maintenance environment involving in a range of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, working for a varied range of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail and Environmental.

Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as:

Highways & Roads, underbridges, overbridges and footbridges, tunnels, flood alleviation & repairs, earthworks & embankments and rail platforms and station infrastructure etc.

We currently have a number of live infrastructure projects and long term renewals and maintenance frameworks underway including Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF) and a Slabtrack framework.

The Role

As Site Agent you will be directly responsible for the daily management of various building and civil engineering projects in the rail sector within our portfolio of work in the region/central Scotland. Initially, the role is to support our project works in Portree, Skye. The project scope is to refurbish an existing funicular rail between over a 300m span including rail replacement and concrete repairs to underlying concrete slab. The role is required manage and lead the successful delivery of the project, which is challenging logistically, so the ideal candidate would be expected to have a broad range of experience and good organisational skills. Day to day responsibilities would include:

• Ensuring that the contract is executed in accordance with the requirements of:

o All applicable legislation

o The Terms and Conditions of the Contract

o The Contract Health and Safety Plan

o The Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets

o The Contract Quality / Environmental Plan

• Delivery of the contract within programme and budget.

• Liaison with site staff and managing surveyor to ensure tender allowances are not exceeded.

• The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure contract objectives are being met.

• Ensuring that in conjunction with the site team changes to the contract are identified, agreed and effectively managed.

• The provision of formal reports on contract progress to the Contracts Manager.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Site Agent in a rail and civil engineering environment.

• SMSTS

• Degree / HNC or HND in civil engineering (or equivalent compensating experience in a technical engineering role)

• Experience as a Site Agent or minimum Sub Agent level in a rail/civil engineering contracting environment

• Experience in a similar role working on multi-disciplinary rail/civils infrastructure projects
