Position Overview for of the Manual Machinist & Fitter:

  • To be able to use standard manual workshop machines to produce components to supplied drawings.
  • To be able to assemble engine rigs for inhouse testing.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Manual Machinist & Fitter:

  • To adhere to our company's beliefs, policies, standards, and procedures including safety, quality, environment. To follow department work requests To provide clear status on task progress and workload To participate in team meetings as applicable Responsibilities(Functional)
  • To carry out engineering tasks using manually operated machines and hand tools. To use a variety of measuring equipment. To conduct frontline maintenance and basic fault diagnosis within the limits of training on equipment used. Designing and manufacturingof fabricated components using Gas, MIG, TIG, Plasma cutting sheet cutter and bending equipment Stripping, rebuilding, and modifying prototype diesel engines Fitting various fuel injection equipment to engine, including, pumps, injectors, lowpressure fuelsystems, and highpressure common rail systems. Skills required for the Manual Machinist & Fitter:

  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications. Ability to understand GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) Ability to utilize a variety of manufacturing and assembly techniques. Ability to use a variety of measuring techniques andtypes of equipment. Desirable
  • Familiar with use of CAD models/ Solid Works or similar. Good IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Ability to use and program CNC machining centers. Attributes

Mandatory:


  • Apprenticeship or experience in an Engineeringrelated discipline; Mechanical, software, electronics, etc.
  • Educated to B Tec Level 3 / NVQ Level 3, HNC or other Engineering qualifications A good understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision A high degree of motivation to achieve company aims Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels Desirable
