Want to join us? We're currently recruiting for a skilled Commercial Team Leader to join our Capital Investment Commercial Team.

What You'll Do


You will be responsible for managing compliance for Scottish Water's contracts, payments and associated commercial procedures and policies as well as managing a team of Quantity Surveyors/Commercial Analysts.


You will manage and lead a commercial team to enable effective commercial and contract management of the current and future Capital Investment Programme through active governance of Scottish Water's contract management and payment systems and you will have line management responsibilities for the Quantity Surveyors/Commercial Analysts within the Commercial Centre of Excellence (CoE) team.


You will be responsible for delivering specialist Commercial guidance and support to the Commercial Delivery teams by managing compliance with commercial business processes and procedures through sharing best practise, providing targeted training and championing continuous improvement.


Additionally, you will help shape Commercial contract management and procurement strategies and will provide commercial leadership and expertise along with support on commercial transformation initiatives and will work closely with SW Procurement to develop and implement SR27 Framework Agreements.


You will be able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Scottish Water internal and external delivery partners, supply chain management and internal and external stakeholders.

You will also maintain an integral and strong team environment approach across the Scottish Water commercial and wider business.

What You'll Bring

You will have experience of managing / supervising teams. You will have a proven track record in managing commercial contracts to ensure programme delivery.

You will also be able to demonstrate a strong commercial awareness and have experience in managing disputes including claims resolution.


You will also have experience of the following:

  • Experience of managing contracts using standard construction contract forms, principally NEC.
  • The role holder must be numerate and highly skilled in information management.
  • The role holder should be able to demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Full Driving licence
  • Will have a relevant Degree qualification such as Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or Project Management

The not-so-small print

The salary range for this role is £45,873 to £58,418 (depending on skills and experience).
