    Job summary

    We are excited to announce that we have a brand-new position within the learning disability and mental health team for an HCPC registered specialist dietitian, to support the Bradford District and Craven 'Improving Physical Health and Reducing Premature Mortality for People with Severe Mental Illness' action plan.

    You will join a small close team of dietitians and dietetic assistant practitioners who provide specialist services for community learning disabilities and mental health inpatients within Bradford District Care NHS Trust. Experience of working within, learning disabilities and/or mental health, whilst beneficial, is not an essential requirement as your learning and development needs will be supportThe successful applicant will be focussed on working collaboratively with our dietetic team and the Physical Health and Wellbeing service to deliver support for patients with severe mental illness (SMI) who may have antipsychotic related weight gain.

    This could include an inpatient and outpatient/community caseload with a wide range of clinical areas including nutrition support, weight management and gastrointestinal problems

    Main duties of the job

    The role involves developing and delivering training and education for staff and service users, collaborative working, project and audit work, policy development, coordinating care across services and leading on nutrition for the service.

    The post holder will be expected to participate fully in the training of 'B' and 'C' Placement student dietitians.

    Essential

  • Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics/Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics HCPC Registered Dietitian
  • Desirable

  • Relevant post graduate qualification
  • Teaching qualification
  • Clinical Supervisory Skills Course
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Relevant post registration experience working as a qualified dietitian with adults with a range of conditions
  • Dietetic experience of weight management - one-to-one and group settings
  • Experience of audit and evaluation of work
  • Desirable

  • Dietetic experience in learning disabilities or mental health
  • Teaching and training experience including developing training
  • Skills

    Essential

  • Good written skills
  • Able to plan and prioritise workload independently
  • Competent with IT: internet, literature searches, dietary analysis programmes, word processing, PowerPoint & spread sheets
