Warehouse/Furniture Assistant

Job brief
We are looking for a Warehouse/Furniture Assistant with the ability to work at our Megastore in Gateshead.

You will bring your experience, energy and enthusiasm to the role supporting the Management Team with the day to day retail activities of the shop.

As part of a dynamic team you will help support front of house shop operations and ensure donations are ready for sale within the warehouse and promptly made available for sale on the shop floor.

Retail experience, excellent customer service, and strong organisational skills are all essential requirements for this role.

Hours

  • 30 hrs
Monday - 9am 17:00 pm

Tuesday 9am 17:00 pm

Friday - 9am 17:00 pm

Sunday 9.30am 17:30 pm

Salary

  • National Living Wage (Dependant on age)

Key Tasks

  • Ensuring all stock is priced and displayed on the shop floor
  • Proactively replenish stop floor to maintain high volumes of stock in all departments
  • Achieve maximum sales at all times
  • Ensure that the high standard of service to customers is maintained at all times
  • Assist any promotion in the shop as directed by the Management Team
  • Maintain a high standard of display on the shop floor
  • Sort and process donations in the warehouse area ensuring there is enough stock to replenish the floor daily.
  • Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the store
  • Adhere to the Gift Aid procedure when processing Gift Aided stock
  • Price stock at a consistent level according to our pricing structure
  • The role will demand moving, sometimes high volumes, of stock on a daily basis and managing stock levels
  • Assist in the training of volunteers as required
  • Complete all administrative paperwork such as sales sheets, gift aid sheets and stock control sheets correctly and promptly
  • Ensure that all Daisy Chains till procedures are adhered to and that cash is kept secure
  • Operate the tills to process customer purchases when required

  • Comply with the Charities Health and Safety policy in all employment practices
  • Maintain the integrity of the Daisy Chain brand in all internal and external communications
  • Maintain a proactive approach to your role and responsibilities along with a commitment to contribute and maintain the positive working ethos within the Charity
  • Maintain working knowledge of the policies and regulations governing the Charity
  • Assure attendance at staff meetings.
  • Undertake any training and development deemed necessary for the pursuance of the post
  • Work in a way that contributes to the continuous improvement of the Charitys services and embraces the organisations quality initiatives
  • Any other duties from time to time, commensurate with the level of the post

Person Specification

Experience

  • Retail Experience E (A,I)
  • Charity Retail Experience D (A, I)
  • Experience of working within the voluntary sector D (A,I)
  • Experience of working with second hand goods and/or an ability to assess the value of items (A, I,T)

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE Level E (A)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills E (I,T)
  • An organised and flexible approach while maintaining good attention to detail E (I,T)
  • Knowledge of retail principles, methods and procedures E (A,I,T)
  • Knowledge of the Gift Aid process D (I)

  • Special interest in an area of our donations for example; fashion, vynals, antiquities furniture etc (A,I,T).
