An exciting opportunity has arisen within the inclusive and diverse workforce of the Network Management and Resilience directorate for an Operational Control Officer.


As the Operational Control Officer, working within a matrix management environment, will form part of a team which has responsibility for the development, maintenance and improvement of (road works) impact-management technology solutions, ensuring that the development of these systems meets the business operational needs and that the systems are reliable and functional to support operational teams responsible for delivering TfL's legislative, regulatory and operational responsibilities, including delivery of the Mayor's Transport Strategy.


You will work closely with the Principal Operational Control Officer, taking direction from them in resolving issues and delivery of projects and developments, on a day to day basis.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as part of a resolver group for agreed systems dealing with issues, collating and analysing incident information to determine the best solution to provide reliable and functional operational systems to those delivering the Mayor's Transport Strategy.
  • Support the documentation of user requirements for agreed systems improvement and ensure that the final documentation meets the user expectation in terms of their requirements
  • Support the analysis and prioritisation of the system developments/enhancements to ensure that the agreed systems are developed in a manner consistent with the overall aims and strategies of the department.
  • Assist in the production of suitable project support documentation including business cases, project plans etc to ensure that proposals meet the requirement of TfL project governance
  • Assist in the management and the continuous development of NM operational technology systems to ensure that they meet with user requirements and is supported by relevant documentation.
  • Implement the agreed processes to ensure that internal and external stakeholders receive a highlevel of professional service to in order to promote the increased usage of the department's operational technology systems.
  • Support the testing of system enhancements to ensure that system improvements are delivered to specification and are deployed without impact to the business operations.
  • Deliver training for agreed systems, working in conjunction with the other team members, to ensure all users can make best use of the systems
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge

  • A good working understanding of people movement strategies and/or impact mitigation for a urban road network
  • A good understanding of Street Works Register software systems and the new Street Manager system hosted by the Department for Transport.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to deal with enquiries and visitors in a friendly, approachable and professional manner. Good telephone manner
  • Good knowledge of the operational technology systems used within the transport industry
  • Knowledge of project delivery methods including Agile delivery

Experience

  • Experience of administering a business critical systems
  • Experience of working with a variety of stakeholders including internal, external and 3rd party service providers
