A Snapshot of Your Day
We are looking for a Commercial Intern to join our rapidly growing team based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

In this role, you will be reporting to the Commercial Head of Operations of our Grid Technologies, Grid Solutions Business.

You will play a valuable support role to our team of Commercial professionals, delivering a variety of Projects within our Portfolio at the execution phase.


How You'll Make an Impact:


  • Support the team of Commercial Project Managers with Project financial and commercial activities; such as month and quarter end reporting, preparation for & attendance at monthly Project review meetings, bookkeeping, invoicing, forecasting, revenue recognition and cash collection.
  • Supporting Commercial Contracts Managers / Quantity Surveyors with Project commercial activities; such as contract administration & change management, drafting of contractual notifications and collation of claim substantiation.
  • Support our Operational Project Controller on our journey towards automation as we seek to implement digital/IT solutions, which will aid report standardisation, process optimization and intelligent data analysis.
  • On occasion, accompany our Commercial leads at Project meetings with Site, Customer and JV Partners at their Office premises or construction sites.
  • Attend Project meetings with our Commercial leads and assist with the preparation of agendas, collation of information from team members, creation of slide pack presentations and note/minute taking.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with our wider team members, support departments and other key Project partners (both internal and external).
  • Demonstrate a 'safety first' approach and live the Zero Harm culture: thinking & working safely.

What You Bring:


  • Studying towards business finance or equivalent degree.
  • Experience of working in a finance department would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Enjoy working independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change.
  • Energised by collaborating with others to find innovative solutions.
  • Previous experience of SAP would be advantageous.
  • Be comfortable communicating with people at different levels.
  • You think logically, are willing to selflearn and research and take a creative approach to problem solving.

About the Team:

Our team includes expert Commercial Project Managers and Commercial Contract Managers.

Together with the Project Manager, they are currently delivering projects worth over £500m with in excess of £500m in the pipeline.

They come from a variety of backgrounds including accounting and quantity surveying.

The day to day roles are in either the Commercial team or the Erection and Commissioning team, both aspiring to deliver the projects on time and within budget.
