1 x 26 hour post

1 x 26 hour post (driver preferable for this post)

Some daytime and evening shifts are required for both posts, as well as some sleep ins. As this is a 24 hour service, you will also be required to work some weekends and bank holidays

Salary - £12.25 per hour rising to £12.38 per hour on successful completion of training and probation period**- We have some exciting opportunities available across our Supported Living Services in Bury.

About you

  • You don't need to have previous experience of working in social care, what's important is that you are caring, a good communicator, patient, creative, able to work on your own initiative, show empathy and also work as part of a team. Most of all we are looking for someone who shares our values. You will need to make the effort to get to know the people you support so a relationship of trust can be built.
  • Flexibility is important as you will work on a rota basis. The rotas include a mix of shifts, including full days, short early mornings, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep ins.

About the role

Being a support worker can be a very rewarding job.

Even though the role can be hard and often challenging, making a positive difference to someone's life and helping them become more independent brings feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction.

It's a great career choice for those who enjoy a varied job role and lots of interaction with others.

  • You will support people with a variety of activities such as managing their finances, cooking, cleaning and shopping. Some of the people we support also require support with personal care such as bathing, dressing and undressing, managing medication, catheter care and support with their mobility. We support people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and longterm or chronic physical conditions and dementia. In your role you will follow comprehensive planning and risk assessments, to ensure that the people you support achieve positive outcomes.
  • There's lots of fun to be had to as we actively encourage the people we support to engage in a variety of activities they choose such as going on long walks, joining in with virtual activity sessions, baking and much more. We also like to support people to be active members of their local community, so you may be supporting people to go to the cinema, swimming, eating out and shopping, etc.
