- Educational Attainment Apprentice, Uist & Barra Schools
- 37 hours per week, year round, fixed term for 4 years
- £25, per annum, inclusive of £2, Distant Islands Allowance per annum
- Working in schools, supporting pupils with a poverty-related attainment gap in educational work under the direction of the class teacher/head of school/headteacher
- Collaborating with schools to organize and lead breakfast and afterschool clubs, especially for those eligible through the Pupil Equity Fund
- Offering holiday support programs in partnership with other staff and agencies to enhance children and young people's participation
- Assisting in maintaining daily records and completing necessary paperwork
- National 5 in English
- Ability to obtain SVQ Level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) within 12 months, and commitment to completing the BA Childhood Practice
- Full Driving Licence or ability to obtain one within 6 months of starting

Job Description
The post holder is responsible for developing skills, directly working and supporting children, young people, and their families to address the poverty-related attainment gap through targeted interventions in school, home, and community settings. They will assist in planning and providing opportunities for children and young people to engage in broader achievements in school and beyond, positively impacting their well-being. Duties include:
The candidate must comprehend the needs of vulnerable groups of young people experiencing poverty, including those in care and individuals facing social, emotional, behavioral, learning, or family challenges. They should possess the ability to work well with children and young people, particularly those with behavioral difficulties, learning challenges, and social and emotional needs.
Requirements:
This position requires membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for regulated work with children. The salary includes Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment will be on the first grade point. Refer to the attached 'Job Description & Person Specification' for more details.
