    Job Title: Project Engineer (MEP) – Sustainability Programme

    Location: Gatwick Airport

    Hours: 40 hours, Monday – Friday

As a Project Engineer, focused on Sustainability, you'll have the opportunity to, and play a key part in, Gatwick Airport's transition to NetZero by 2030.

    Your role is pivotal in leading the design of large, strategically important projects for Gatwick Airport with typical budgets over £25 million, ensuring that design meets projects requirements, whilst achieving real value for money. This role has involvement in every stage of the project process including ensuring all projects are installed in line with approved designs.

    The role

    Reporting into the Programme Design Manager, you'll play a key role in the Construction team, responsible for ensuring design meets needs across varied £multi-million MEP projects, including working in defined sub-programmes on complex projects.

    Other duties include:

  • Developing project scope to meet the business needs along with delivering effective design management on individual projects
  • Seeking sustainable design solutions to meet project requirements, ensuring implementation of measures (such as energy-efficient design, materials selection, waste reduction, and transportation optimisation) aimed at preventing, reducing and remediating carbon emissions that arise from the construction
  • Working with multiple stakeholders to support the successful delivery of projects
  • Seeking cost effective design solutions and managing external design consultants
  • Providing technical input to any design changes through the lifecycle of the project
  • What are we looking for?

    The live environment at Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with problem solving skills and an innovative outlook. Involved in projects from inception to completion you'll work alongside multiple stakeholders. In addition, this role requires:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical engineering
  • Experience in engineering design or design management on significant mechanical, electrical, plumbing and heating projects with a typical value in excess of £5m
  • An understanding of the importance of controlling and managing the project close out and handover process
