    This vacancy is for a Welding Apprentice based in Padiham.
    We are looking to recruit an Apprentice as soon as possible to join our team.

    The broad purpose of the occupation is to carry out metal fabrication work using things such as rolled steel joists, columns, channels, steel plate and metal sheet etc.

    Protec Oscillators and Showers was formed in 2016. Our aim is to deliver high quality products to our customers at a reasonable price and in a timely manner.
    Our engineers and skilled fabricators have backgrounds in a variety of industries, including paper machinery, wire & cable machinery and bespoke machinery design.
    We are able to draw upon a broad and deep knowledge of these industries to help provide the best solutions for our customers.

    An apprenticeship in welding, fabrication & sheet metal working will split between on the job working and some college. Learning to work with different metals creating fabricated and structural products. Working on a variety of different projects small to large, you must be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, be reliable and punctual.

    The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic and willing to learn and put in the time at work and at college to achieve a good standard and quality of work.

    Please note the first year training will be block release training at Training 2000 in Blackburn.

    The successful candidate will train and become competent at welding, components and castings, learning to weld both MIG & TIG to a very high standard.

    You will also be trained to learn:

    Measuring and marking out.

    Knowledge of engineering materials.

    Handling of engineering information.

    Additional skills covered may include:

    Fitting using hand skills.

    Producing sheet metal components and assemblies using a range of welding techniques and principles.

    Your job role will consist of different tasks such as:

    • Welding Castings.
    • MIG and TIG.

    Training to be provided

    The apprentice will be working towards completing the Metal Fabricator Standard which will include the following:

    L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

    L3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

    Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT (if not already achieved).

    Please note the first year training will be block release training at Training 2000 in Blackburn.
