We're seeking an experienced, Manager to join our industry-leading Materials Testing team in Leatherhead Surrey. The laboratory is concerned with establishing the fitness of packaging products with respect to the physical performance elements. Specifically but not limited to, barrier properties, strength, resistance, integrity, print performance. Our clients are globally known brands in the medical, consumer, industrial and packaging sectors. Not only do our project outcomes contribute towards and direct critical new product launch decisions, we support regulatory submissions, and provide key decision making input to re-engineering initiatives.

As a Senior Manager, you'll deliver inspiring, supportive leadership for the team you lead. A key part of the role will be hands-on delivery of testing in order to maintain the workflow and ensuring projects are completed on time and to budget. At Smithers it is key that our teams work together and provide a strong support network for each other that is encouraged and developed by our Senior Managers, to motivate and deliver the best results for our clients whilst continuing to meet the needs of our employees.

To continue the growth and success of our team, you will also be responsible for developing and leading continuous improvement activities relating to laboratory environment and testing processes. You will also provide leadership in the efficient management of resources and adapt these to changing priorities in order to meet client demands and revenue targets.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent in the physical sciences

Strong track record in production or laboratory supervisory experience

Excellent proven project management skills

Experience of production or workflow systems implementation

Knowledge of Quality systems

Experience operating under ISO 17025

Commercial awareness
