Position Expectation:
The platers primary responsibility is tig and/or MiG welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. Each job must be produced with safety, accuracy, and timeliness.
A level 4 plater has the capabilities of a level 3 welder/fabricator and can additionally clearly demonstrate an expert level of building parts/assemblies to drawings, welding to high quality, and dimensionally checking to drawing.
Can design and produce basic complex jigs and fixtures for production and intent purposes. Can weld parts together using basic complex jigs/fixtures, can demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills. Is capable of training/coaching others.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Mig Welding including the following:
- Create quality welds according to drawings (weld symbols).
- Inspect welds for accuracy.
- Change wire, welding, as needed.
- Change gas cylinders as needed
- Responsible for the safe and proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the correct location.
- Ensure all equipment is correctly setup and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
- Performs first piece dimensional inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by AET quality standards.
- Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
- Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.
- Will be required to crosstrain as backup/floating resource in other areas of the fabrication Team.
- Other jobrelated duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.

- Position requires good mathematical ability and the ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as callipers, micrometres, protractors, and tape measures.
