    Luminate is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our dynamic global legal team in London, UK. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to our mission of advancing philanthropy through innovative legal solutions and compliance measures.

    Role Overview:

    As an Associate General Counsel at Luminate, you'll play a vital role in providing legal support across various domains, including data privacy, intellectual property, contract negotiations, and charity law compliance. Reporting to the General Counsel, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to our Risk Management Team while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations in jurisdictions worldwide.

    Responsibilities:

    • Governance & Compliance: Ensure ongoing data protection compliance, advise on governance matters, and oversee new entity formation when necessary.
    • Contracts Management: Oversee contract processes, including negotiation and review of agreements, and provide training on contract best practices.
    • Risk Management: Collaborate with the Risk Management Team to assess and mitigate enterprise risks effectively.
    • Litigation Management: Manage litigation originating from the UK or its branches under the guidance of the General Counsel.
    • Support to General Counsel: Assist in managing employment issues and complex legal matters, as well as stand in for the General Counsel when needed.

    Experience & Skills:

    • UK qualified solicitor 10+ PQE (other levels of qualification will still be considered).
    • Broad expertise in data protection law across the UK, EU, and US.
    • Experience in intellectual property law and contract negotiation.
    • Previous experience managing staff and contracts.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit and/or charity law preferred (nice to have).
    • Enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Corporate governance experience is a plus.
    • Ability to simplify legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders.
    • Self-motivated with a passion for issues related to democracy, human rights, and technology.
