    Social housing is going through significant changes in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, and the passing of the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023. More is expected of social housing providers in terms of standards, performance and giving tenants a 'proper voice'. The Regulator of Social Housing has been given stronger powers under the act, including carrying out regular inspections of social housing providers.

    Our Housing Strategy & Partnerships Officer will help shape the strategic direction and framework for delivering excellent housing services to meet our current and future housing requirements. Preparations for the new social housing regulatory landscape are already underway at H&F, and the successful candidate will be at the heart of reviewing our strategic and policy framework to ensure it's 'fit for purpose' and meets our residents' needs.

    To fill the role, we need someone who has the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to:

  • Understand the impact of developing housing policy and legislation
  • Understand the latest trends and challenges facing local authorities
  • Develop housing strategies and policies using evidence and analysis
  • Work collaboratively to develop innovative solutions with senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Plan, commission and project manage housing research
  • Synthesise and communicate complex information to a wide audience
  • Analyse a range of data sets to support strategy and policy development
  • To initiate and lead projects that cross service or professional boundaries
  • As a Housing Strategy & Partnerships Officer you'll be working closely with key stakeholders ensure our housing strategies and policies provide a clear strategic 'direction of travel' for our residents and stakeholders. You will focus on the housing policy 'horizon' to ensure H&F are aware of and prepared for likely changes in social housing legislation, guidance or regulation. You will also be responsible for researching and analysing evidence to support our strategies and policies, and supporting colleagues across housing in H&F to carry out reviews and updates to existing documents. You will have a keen interest in policy, good communication skills, and enjoy finding the answers to difficult problems.
