    This post attracts £15k welcome recruitment and retention incentive to the successful substantive appointment.

    This exciting post offers the opportunity to work in a first class vascular and endovascular service. It is a replacement post for recently retired staff. The appointee will form an integral part of vascular surgical services for the Gloucestershire and Swindon Vascular Network, (with the hub based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and the two spokes at Cheltenham General Hospital and the Great Western Hospital in Swindon).The Network, covering a population of over a million, has run successfully for over 10 years. A wide variety of vascular conditions are treated by the service. We have a state-of-the-art Hybrid theatre and a full range of vascular and endovascular procedures are performed. The post holder will benefit from a substantial existing practice in aortic aneurysm surgery, both EVAR and open, carotid surgery, arterial bypass and reconstructive surgery, and venous intervention.

    We have an excellent collaboration between vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists and a surgeon-led EVAR service. There is also an open and endovascular diabetic lower limb salvage programme, giving opportunities for the post holder to expand and develop their open and endovascular practice and well established renal access service.

    Main duties of the job

    The main duties of the job are to provide a comprehensive elective and emergency vascular service for the population of Gloucestershire, Swindon and North Wiltshire. The successful candidate will join a strong multidisciplinary team providing excellent outcomes in indexed procedures through robust team working.

    Beyond regular clinics delivered across the Network and inpatient lists based at the hub in Gloucester, opportunities will be available to deliver endovascular lists, both arterial and venous and day case lists including renal access surgery.

    On call is delivered 1 in 7 with a split week (Monday to Friday and Friday to Monday). It is a consultant delivered service with robust support from a junior team, SDEC and hot clinics. Emergency operating is delivered through regular CEPOD lists with access to high quality mobile image intensification equipment beyond the Hybrid Theatre.
