Principal Civil & Structural Designer


Costain is currently looking for an experienced
Principal Civil & Structural Designerto provide additional support to our civil and structural engineering team here in
Aberdeenon a c
ontract basis.


We would expect you to have demonstrable experience building structural models and details using
E3D/PDMS from concept to detail design level, as well as experience with civil design and offshore structural design including topside modifications.

Experience and availability to carry out onshore and offshore surveys is essential.


Duties

  • Preparation of design documentation as requested by Senior/ Principal or Lead Engineers.
  • Ensure that asset or project discipline draughting activities are executed within budget and schedule, while maintaining technical integrity.
  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant codes, standards and procedures. Maintain and develop current awareness of relevant codes and standards.
  • Implement company, and where applicable, client/project policies and procedures.
  • Remain abreast of legislative requirements.
  • Ensure all interfaces to other disciplines are clearly defined and correctly designed
  • Liaise with other disciplines, departments, project personnel, vendors, clients, etc.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Qualified to City & Guilds or HND Level
  • Extensive experience as a designer
  • Expert E3D/PDMS experience
  • Valid BOSIET
  • Valid MIST
  • Offshore structural design experience topsides
  • Ideally civil design experience
  • Ideally experience carrying out 3D Laser Scans, but not essential
  • Good communication and team working ethic
