    Job summary

    The CAMHS directorate in North Yorkshire and York locality of TEWV is comprised of the two York Community CAMHS teams based at Lime Trees, the Selby team based at Selby Cabin, the Harrogate Team based at Dragon Parade, the Scarborough Team based at Lake House and the Northallerton Team based at North Moor House with a peripheral clinic in Colburn.

    This is a 10 PA post 6-month fixed term post providing Speciality Grade Doctor input to the Harrogate CAMHS (with consultant supervision from Dr Cirulli). This post will provide input into Harrogate part of the North Yorkshire and York service. Specifically, this service is commissioned by the North Yorkshire CCG.

    It has a Single Point of Access service staffed by an experienced staff team who triage and provide a telephone consultation service to families and referrers. The SPA responds to all referrals and help young people and their families with the process of navigating through the options to find a service that meets their needs. The service works with a model of brief intervention to empower young people and their families in achieving good mental health and well-being. Staff job plans are designed to deliver services described in the TEWV Clinical Pathways, in order to provide high quality evidence-based care.

    It is a fixed term post suitable for a post holder wishing to develop clinical experience within CAMHS.

    The team serves the Harrogate area includingRipon, Masham and Pateley Bridge and includes (Wetherby)

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will contributeto the teams performance objectives and, in terms of clinical work, isexpected to achieve an average of 20 direct patient contacts per week,representing a mix of new and review appointments.

    The post holder will beresponsible, alongside consultant colleagues, for delivery of mental healthservices up to a young persons 18th birthday for the population of theHarrogate area. Although we have a clinic model, there may be an occasionalrequirement to perform domiciliary and community visits with the support ofother team members.

    Thepost holder joining the team will be expected to work in accordance with GMCguidance for working in multiagency and multidisciplinary teams and will beexpected to work flexibly.

    The post will follow a 9PA (DirectClinical Care): 1 PA (Supporting Professional Activities) job plan. This willallow the post holder to develop a protected half day each week to pursue CPDactivities. Active encouragement will be given to career development withinCAMHS and duties of the postholder can be adapted over time to ensure they gaina wide range of appropriate experiences for this.

    Experience

    Essential

  • At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in UK or abroad.
  • Able to demonstrate good clinical skills and knowledge in psychiatry with bio-psycho-social perspective
  • Able to demonstrate good clinical communication skills showing empathy and sensitivity
  • Person-centred and recovery focused
  • Desirable

  • Postgraduate experience in the relevant specialty
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Able to undertake duties under MHA and MCA.
  • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training

    Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12(2) MHA OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Desirable

  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register in the relevant specialty.
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
